Soo’s Garden 2024 Summer Newsletter

Hello and welcome to summer!

Plants and trees in my home town of Napier this time of year are particularly easy on the eye. Flowering Jacaranda, Frangipani and Pohutukawa are breathtaking.

My garden is similarly lush as the summer routine of harvesting and drying flowers consumes much of my time. Vibrant orange Calendula are now preserved for later processing while the Chamomile is flowering in earnest now. Hypericum are just starting to bud, while a very healthy Arnica bed has already produced some surprisingly early blooms. Damascene Roses have been wonderful this year having had several years to establish and the Echinacea are preparing for what promises to be a spectacular summer display.

It’s well worth taking a moment to appreciate the natural beauty that surrounds us. It’s a wonderful psychological tonic to the increased demands we make of ourselves this time of year.

December is a particularly busy time for me as I travel to markets in Waikato, Manawatu, Wellington and Hawke’s Bay. As always, I very much look forward to catching up with my regular customers and greatly appreciate your support and advocacy. For those unable to make it to markets, please feel free to make contact through the website.

To everyone, thanks for your support and I wish you a happy and healthy Summer.
